According to a report by The Nation, King claimed that Buhari
is having sleepless nights over threats to unity by militancy,
ethnic separatism and agitation for restructuring by groups.
Speaking to journalist in Uyo, on Wednesday, September 27,
King said the president desired a cohesive, undivided and peaceful
country, hence the inauguration of the committee, aimed at
promoting unity.
He said: “It is becoming obvious that for the nation to survive
the critical moments it is passing through, every well-meaning
Nigerian must align with the well-intentioned position of
President Buhari to build a cohesive, undivided and peaceful
country set along the paths of keeping one, strong and united
Nigeria.

“The imperative is what the committee seeks to achieve through
our present engagement and responsibility; and I believe my
colleagues and I are poised to work in that direction and realise
the unity of Nigeria.”
In a statement sent to journalists, Kawu, himself a former
member of the green chamber, also commended the lawmakers
for their resolve to work with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He commended the 360 members of the House for unanimously
passing a resolution to work for the unity of Nigeria in the
face of daunting challenges and threats by certain groups.
