Families of 126 IDPs who died from military accidental bombing yet to be compensated

Almost 3 months after a military jet
mistakenly blow up an Internally
Displaced persons (IDP) camp, non of the
families of the 126 people who died has
been compensated.
On January 17, 2017, a Nigerian
airforce plane mistakenly bombed an
Internally Displaced People's camp.
NAIJ.com gathered that apart from the
50 people initially reported dead, about
76 more people died on the same day,
bringing the total record to 126.
According to the cable, 120 civilians
were also injured during the mistaken
attack.
Babagana Malarima, chairman of Kala
Balge local government as at the time of
the bombing, initially said 236 people
had died in the attack, but later revised
the figures, stating that the figures
available to him were a lump sum of
injured and killed persons.
A total of 126 people were believed to have lost
their lives in the attack.

Apart from the 126 who died on the first
day, some others have died in the days
following the attack, but none, not a
single household has been compensated
for the military, whose mistake brought
about the calamity.
The Presidential Committee on North
East Initiative on Saturday, March 4,
presented N10,000 cash support each to
