Hi I Senator Dino Melaye raised the issue
against President Muhammadu Buhari as a
point of order on the floor during plenary
- Melaye urged his colleagues at the Senate
to see the issue as a test in the democratic
process of Nigeria
An angry Senate declared on
Wednesday, May 17, that it could halt
the appointment of the director-general
of the National Lottery Commission
because it was done by President Buhari
without due process.
The Senate said the appointment of the
director-general did not follow the
confirmation of lawmakers.

Senator Dino Melaye raised a point of order over
the issue
Dino, who pleaded with his colleagues
not to allow such illegality, argued that
it could injure the country’s democracy.
“As I speak, the DG has resumed at the
commission without passing through the
checks of Senate as required by laws.
“Nigerians must be respected,” he
submitted.
